A total of seventy four accidents were recorded on Namibia’s roads over the Easter long-weekend, compared to only nineteen last year. The Namibian Police reported that a total of one hundred and twenty two injuries were recorded compared to twenty seven last year, while sixteen fatalities were recorded in comparison with four last year. There were also one thousand one hundred and seven fines issued totalling over N$1.2 million, including 137 for speeding, 27 for not wearing seatbelts, 20 for using a drunk driving, 5 for inconsiderate driving, and 4 each for overloading and un-roadworthy vehicles.
