The US Senate has confirmed Dr John Nkengasong to lead Pepfar, the United States public health programme aimed at combatting HIV/Aids. Dr. Nkengasong, who has been heading Africa CDC was nominated by the US president in 2021. The UN Aids agency has congratulated Dr. Nkengasong while welcoming his confirmation, saying he “will provide outstanding leadership” of the programme.
