South Africa’s civic organisation AfriForum is concerned that a specialised land court instituted to speed up the resolution of land-related disputes and the development of land jurisprudence in the country, will worsen problems around land reform. Newsflash reports that the bill arose from the report of the presidential advisory panel on land reform and agriculture, which recommended the Land Claims Court be given additional responsibilities. AfriForum’s deputy CEO, Ernst Roets, says such a court will just cost more money.
