The Namibia Airports Company Chief Executive Officer Bisey /Uirab has defended the company’s decision to spend N$ 388 332 to buy 1035 litres of sanitiser, saying the price is fair and reasonable. The Namibia press agency reports that in response to questions posed by Popular Democratic Movement parliamentarian Nico Smit, /Uirab said in a letter that the procurement was triggered by preventative measures set out by the health ministry against the Coronavirus pandemic and that the NAC did not go on tender due to the urgency of the matter. He added that it is also important to note that at the time, the supply of sanitizers was significantly limited and demand was high.
