Al Jazeera says that Israeli forces have shot and killed their veteran reporter Shireen Abu Akleh, who was wearing a blue flak jacket clearly marked with the word “PRESS” while covering an Israeli army raid on the Jenin refugee camp. The Qatar owned news agency condemned what they called the “blatant murder” that violates “international laws and norms”, and called Abu Akleh’s death a “heinous crime, through which it is intended to prevent the media from fulfilling its message”. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett however said it was “likely” that Palestinian gunfire killed Abu Akleh. Another Palestinian journalist, Ali al-Samoudi, was shot in the back but is currently in a stable condition.
