Speaking during a panel discussion Presidential Advisor on Youth Matters and Enterprise Development, Daisry Mathias, said that young people are prioritised in the budget allocations of all ministries and not only in that of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Explaining that a that a large chunk of the budget was shifted to the Investment Promotion and Development Board, which falls under the presidency, Mathias said that they have “committed to putting some economic incentives together with the Ministry of Finance to incentivise the business sector to roll out a national internship and apprenticeship programme”. But noted that cooperation is needed in the education sector as it is currently challenged by the absence of a law that necessitates businesses to take young people in for apprenticeships and internships.
