Minister of Mines and Energy Tom Alweendo, today addressed members of the media on allegations that he participated in a scheme to deprive mineral rights holders of their licenses. It is alleged that Alweendo benefited from a N$50 million scheme, which was allegedly paid by a Chinese company called Xinfeng Investment to Orange River Mining, a company owned by Ralph Muyamba’s alleged proxy, a certain Peter Karel Shifwaku. Muyamba served as Alweendo’s Technical Advisor until Wednesday, October 12, 2022, when he resigned on a 24-hour notice. The Ministry’s spokesperson Andreas Simon explains.
