During the ANC’s national executive committee virtual meeting on Sunday, its treasurer-general, Paul Mashatile, said the party was looking at ‘right sizing’ itself and was considering cutting its staff by 50%. This NEws24 reports as the South African Revenue Service had taken R17 million meant for the governing party, which was part payment for its ballooning tax bill dating back to when Jacob Zuma was president of the party. And while the ANC continues to limp from one financial scandal to another, Mashatile said the party was also exploring the idea of crowd-funding and fundraising for elections.
