The Ministry of Mines and Energy has confirmed that an earthquake was recorded approximately 12 kilometers west of Kamanjab in the Kunene Region at 10:25 am on Monday. The quake, which registered a preliminary magnitude of 4.9 was recorded by seven seismic stations, as far away as Katima Mulilio and Aus, as having occurred at a shallow depth of less than 15km. A team of geo-scientists will be dispatched to the area on Wednesday to conduct a more detailed study.
