South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to visit flood-affected areas in KwaZulu-Natal today while Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said she will be pushing for KwaZulu-Natal to be declared a disaster area, and there have been calls for the police to intervene following reports of people looting trucks and containers. Times Live reports that at least 45 people have lost their lives since Sunday but that number looks set to rise as more incidents are reported.
