Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat has emphasized African solutions to African problems as he concluded his visit to crisis-hit Sudan. The chairperson of the pan-African bloc paid a working visit to Sudan, where he met most of the country’s political, social, civil, and military actors, the AU said in a statement issued yesterday. ‘The meetings made it possible to consider, in a spirit of openness and frankness, the particularly sensitive situation which threatens the country with serious political, security, and economic perils,’ the AU said. According to the AU, Mahamat discussed all aspects of the situation in the country with ‘frankness and sincerity, including ways and means of solving its complex crisis, so as to ensure the restoration of constitutional civil order in the service of peace, stability, and development’.
