US President Joe Biden has authorised the deployment of hundreds of Special Operations forces inside Somalia, reversing a decision by his predecessor Donald Trump to withdraw nearly all 700 ground troops who’d been stationed in the east African country. Benji Hyer reports that Biden also approved a Pentagon request to target about a dozen suspected leaders of Al-Shabab, the Somali terrorist group affiliated with Al-Qaeda.
