Anglican Church of Southern Africa archbishop Thabo Makgoba says the fear and tension to which children at a Brackenfell High School are unfairly being subjected is a wake-up call to every parent and governing body in South Africa. Makgoba says the conflict at the school, which has been in the spotlight over alleged racial segregation related to a private matric party only attended by some white pupils, reflects the failure of society and particularly of parents and teachers to root out racism among children.
