Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari replaced the heads of the armed forces on Tuesday as pressure builds over his response to the security situation. Africa News reports that, while Buhari gave no reasons for the resignation of the army, navy and air force commanders, who he appointed in 2016, instead simply tweeting the names of their replacements, Governors and the National Assembly had called on Buhari to replace the military chiefs as they said they were underperforming.
