A sword is still hanging over the heads of many City of Cape Town firefighters who have been bravely fighting the raging fire that started on Sunday morning. This as a disciplinary process is still underway for more than 500 firefighters affiliated with the South African Municipal Workers Union who refused to work their contracted hours according to an agreement in 2019. The ANC’s Khalid Sayed insists though that plans to dismiss these firefighters must be abandoned.
