The Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation has granted permission to Whale Rock Cement (PTY) Ltd also known as Cheetah Cement to resume its operations as of Monday, 23 May. This, the Ministry says, after the Company was ordered to cease its operations on 10 May due to various violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, including a lack of suitable personal protective equipment, failure to provide first aid and emergency arrangements, and having never investigated and identified the hazards and risks attached to the work at the mine.
