The Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services announced on Tuesday that COVID-19 vaccines procured by government through the COVAX Facility may only arrive in May. She said the government continues to experience delays from the COVAX Facility who although initially had told government to expect the vaccine by mid-January 2021, are yet to deliver on that promise, adding that no specific date has yet been given. The Deputy Minister also said that of the over 800 people who have been vaccinated using the Sinopharm vaccine donated by China, only one person was reported to have developed side effect symptoms associated with the vaccine. “The symptoms were minor and the person is being monitored by the ministry and the situation is under control,” she said.
