Agri SA says up to 25 percent of crops in important maize-producing regions such as KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State have been damaged. CEO Christo van der Rheede says South Africa had abundant rain this summer which damaged this essential crop. van der Rheede says maize fields in Standerton, Vrede, Bethlehem, Kroonstad, and Bothaville are in very poor condition or even underwater. Crops in areas such as North West and Mpumalanga also suffered hail damage.
