In what could be potentially good news for Namibia, Bloomberg reports that De Beers has pushed through one of its most aggressive diamond price increases in recent years as the world’s biggest producer of the stones cashes in on a buying frenzy for uncut gems. De Beers, they quote people familiar with the situation who asked not to be identified as saying, raised prices by about 8% at its first sale of the year, with the biggest increases for smaller, cheaper stones which sometimes saw increases of up to 20%.
