An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 in the early hours of Wednesday has killed at least 130 people in Afghanistan with the death toll likely to rise. Al Jazeera quotes the US Geological Survey as saying that the quake struck about 44 km from the city of Khost in southeastern Afghanistan at a depth of 51km. A tweet by the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre meanwhile said that shaking was felt over a range of some 500km by about 119 million people in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India.
