South African Parliament’s Powers and Privileges Committee has found 16 EFF members of Parliament guilty of contempt after they attempted to physically disrupt Public Enterprises minister Pravin Gordhan’s budget vote in 2019. Committee chairperson Philly Mapulane says the MPs now have an opportunity to make representations before a sanction can be imposed but the EFF’s Mbuyiseni Ndlozi says the whole process has been a mockery of best legal practice.
