South Africa’s power utility, Eskom says it is unable to meet the demands of trade unions for salary and benefit increases. Newsflash reports that the power utility has been meeting with three trade unions since yesterday but has indicated it will not be putting an offer on the table. The National Union of Metal Workers of South Africa as well as the National Union of Mineworkers is asking for an increase of 15-percent in salaries. Solidarity is asking for an increase of 9.5-percent for its members.
