According to research done by FNB Business in South Africa, despite increasing energy costs and climate change being major drivers for farmers to consider renewable energy sources in order to insure the sustainability of the sector, farmers are reluctant. Their research shows that if a farmer for example has a choice to invest in a warehouse or solar power, he would rather choose the warehouse. This, South African agricultural economist, Dr. Kobus Laubscher, told us is an attitude farmers need to reconsider.
