South Africa’s Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola says his office has not received an “official” request from Namibia to confirm whether a case had been opened after theft of money from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm. News24 reports that last week, Namibia’s police force said it made a formal request through the Justice Ministry to “confirm whether or not a crime was registered in South Africa”. Nampol said it made the request after issuing a preservation order to seize the assets of one of the men suspected of carrying out the heist.
