The seven key suspects in the infamous Fishrot case are expected to appear in the Windhoek High Court on Thursday for a Pre-trial Conference. The seven accused, among them, former fisheries minister Bernhardt Esau and former justice minister Sacky Shanghala, are appearing in two different cases. Nampa reports that in the first matter, the seven men are facing several criminal charges of allegedly receiving bribes amounting to more than N$ 150 million in return for giving preferential access to Namibia’s fishing grounds to Samherji. In the second criminal case, the same seven key accused persons are facing multiple counts of charges of fraud, bribery, corruptly using the office for gratification, money laundering, and conspiring to commit corruption.
