The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform has lifted all movement restrictions that were imposed after Foot and Mouth Disease outbreaks were detected in the FMD protection zone. The Namibia pressagency quotes the chief veterinary officer in the Directorate of Veterinary Services, Albertina Shilongo, as saying that according to Namibia’s FMD contingency plan, 90 days should lapse without observing any new FMD positive cases in the protection zone and the last positive case was observed on 20 January 2021.
