Ford Motor Group announced yesterday, following a visit by President Cyril Ramaphosa to its Silverton plant at the Tshwane Automotive Special Economic Zone, that it will invest R15.8 billion in South Africa – the most significant investment in its 97-year history in the country. Accordingto Fin24 the majority, or R10.3 billion, will go towards extensive upgrades at the Silverton assembly plant, where it will increase the number of employees to 5 500, while at the same time adding 10 000 new jobs across local supply chains and creating 1 200 incremental jobs for Ford in South Africa.
