The Northern regions recorded the highest number of deaths during the fourth wave of the Coronavirus, with the virus taking the lives of mostly those above the age of 80. The Namibia Press Agency reports data from the Ministry of Health and Social Services shows that 416 COVID-19 deaths were recorded between 01 November 2021 to 31 January 2022. Of these 230 (55 percent) were reported in the Northern part of the country. Emergency specialist and COVID-19 case management lead, Dr. Kaveto Sikuvi, linked the deaths to the festive season when many people flocked to the northern regions for holiday.
