Fuel station owners have called on the Ministry of Mines and Energy to restrict fuel wholesalers and banks from operating in the retail market, saying that these entities are eating into their margin of N$1.13, which has remained constant for the past four years. They have also demanded an increase in the margin, but Ministry spokesperson, Andreas Simon explains that this is not currently possible.

Hennie Kruger, the Chairperson of the Fuel and Franchise Association of Namibia meanwhile says that following discussions with the Ministry the much talked about nationwide service station shutdown has been called off.
