President Hage Geingob has expressed his disappointment with the way in which the COVID-19 vaccine is being distributed, saying the current system points to a form of vaccine apartheid. The Namibia press agency reports that Namibia last year made an upfront payment of N.dollars 26 million, which is 15 per cent of the total cost of N$ 193 million, to the COVAX facility to secure one million doses of the vaccine and to ensure that we were at the ‘front of the queue’. Despite this the projected delivery date for vaccines has been pushed back from the initial date of mid-January 2021, to the end of February and now, to May.
