The gender ministry has allocated N$ 2 million to start the process of transferring all street children to ‘Farm Kaukurus’ which the government recently acquired. This was revealed by Minister of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare Doreen Sioka on Wednesday in the National Assembly while motivating the ministry’s N$ 5.4 billion budget for the 2021/22 financial year. According to the Namibia Press Agency, she said the ministry through the childcare and protection division plans to provide basic logistical support to Farm Kaukurus, explaining that the bulk of the ministerial operational budgetary allocation of up to N$ 5 billion goes towards the provision of social safety nets to the poor and vulnerable Namibians.
