German leader Olaf Scholz has tested positive for Covid-19. It follows a weekend trip to the Middle East, where he met several heads of state as part of a tour designed to drive energy investment between Germany and Gulf nations. Deutsche Welle reports that Scholz’s office said he had immediately gone into isolation, with public appointments for the week canceled. Spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said the 64-year-old chancellor intended to conduct internal appointments virtually.
