Google, through its philanthropic arm,, has announced that it will pledge N$15.3 million worth of charitable funds to support African female entrepreneurs to grow their businesses as part of a series of new initiatives aimed at supporting women-owned businesses. This, Business Insider reports, as Google’s research “shows that [while] 58% of small- and medium-sized business entrepreneurs in Africa are women … women-run businesses show, on average, 34% lower profits than those run by their male counterparts. They are also less likely to receive funding and investment”.
