Minister of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform, Calle Schlettwein has confirmed the government’s plans to construct a second desalination plant at the coast to service the increasing rise of water demand in the region. The plant, Schlettwein explained, is envisaged to be a modular facility, which is scalable to further supply desalinated water to the central areas and to also support water supply to the Republic of Botswana over time. He also noted that the government has re-measured the aquifer visibility and opened new-found compartments especially in the Kuiseb aquifer, which will increase the capacity of the flow of that groundwater resource.
