Rights group Human Rights Watch has called the mass executions in Egypt between October 3 and 13, which saw 49 people executed, as outrageous and called on authorities to immediately halt the killings and re-try those sentenced to death in grossly unfair trials. The African news Agency reports that in a statement yesterday, the rights group said that in the 10-day period, Egyptian authorities executed 15 men convicted for alleged involvement in three cases of political violence, as well as two women and 25 men convicted in criminal cases.
