Trade volumes between Namibia and Angola fall below the desired levels as compared to that between Namibia and other neighbouring countries, despite the two countries’ relations spanning over five-decades, according to the Executive Director in the Ministry of Trade and Industrialisation, insisting that the two countries need to pursue a more focused agenda that will increase trade and investment opportunities between them. Namibian businesses need not worry about Angola’s restrictions on imports of certain goods, as decisions can always be reviewed. This was said at the just ended inaugural session of the Namibia and Angola Joint Trade Committee which took place in Swakopmund. We contacted Dr. Omu Kakujaha-Matundu, an economics lecturer at the University of Namibia for his reaction.
