Frans Kapofi has quit the race to become Swapo’s next Vice President. The Defence and Veterans Affairs Minister withdrew his nomination ahead of the party congress in November. Meanwhile, President Hage Geingob has announced his intention to step down as party president before the 2024 general elections to allow the incoming Swapo vice president to take charge of the party.
