The Governor of the Kavango East Region, Bonny Wakudumo, has said he refuses to believe that the region is one of the poorest in the country because it has abundant water and fertile soil. The Namibia press agency reports that, responding to the recently released poverty index report by the Namibia Statistics Agency which found the Kavango Eest Region to be the second poorest region in the country, the governor called for a faculty of agriculture to be introduced in order to capacitate agriculture in the region. He said by importing food from South Africa the country helps it to create employment for its people and industries instead of developing and building the two Kavango regions in terms of agriculture.
