Kenya’s ambassador at the UN Security Council has condemned Russia’s decision to send troops to Ukraine’s breakaway regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, and to recognise them as independent states. “The territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine stand breached. The charter of the United Nations continues to wilt under the relentless assault of the powerful,” Martin Kimani said. The BBC reports that his statement drew comparisons between Africa’s experience of colonialism and the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
