National Unity Democratic Organisation secretary-general Joseph Kaundenge has said it is astonishing that Namibia has no genocide memorial site in remembrance of the atrocities committed against Ovaherero and Nama people by Germany between 1904 and 1908. Kaundenge said this on Thursday during a question-and-answer session in the National Assembly, after President Hage Geingob delivered the State of the Nation Address. Nampa reports that he suggested a historic site called ‘Ozombu zo Vindimba’ near Otjinene in the Omaheke Region with a rich history, where German General Lothar von Trotha issued the infamous extermination order to wipe out the Herero tribe.
