Lawyers representing the family of former Burkina Faso leader Thomas Sankara demand former president Blaise Compaoré, who was sentenced in absentia by a military court in Ouagadougou, be extradited to serve his life sentence. This, AfricaNews reports, after Compaoré, and two others, were sentenced to life in prison over Sankara’s murder during a military coup in 1987. Compaoré is currently living in exil in Ivory Coast where he acquired citizenship in 2016.
