The Landless Peoples Movement and Trade Union Congress of Namibia have pledged their support for NBC employees who have been on strike since last week Friday demanding an eight per cent salary increase, better working conditions, and for contract workers to be employed on a permanent basis after many years of working for the broadcaster. The LPM urged NBC management to cede to the demands of the employees and allow news to flow again, saying that to not do so “poses a dangerous threat to democracy as freedom of speech and freedom of the press are withering”. TUCNA meanwhile called on NBC workers to continue demanding for what is due to them.
