Suspended ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule plans to use the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture’s latest report to support an application to have criminal charges against him dropped. This, City Press reports, after the Commission found no conclusive evidence against Magashule and did not recommend any sanctions against him regarding the asbestos project, but did criticise him for failing to prevent the looting of his province during his term in office between 2014 and 2017. The commission was also unable to make a conclusive finding that the identity of a person named as “AM” in one of the allegedly corrupt asbestos transactions was that of Ace Magashule.
