Mali’s president, Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, has resigned and has dissolved the government and Parliament. Newsflash reports that this comes after he and prime minister Boubou Cisse were reportedly detained by soldiers yesterday. The West African nation has seen widespread protest over the last few weeks, calling for Keïta’s resignation over allegations of corruption and nepotism in his administration. In a televised address, Keïta said he does not want a single drop of blood to be shed to keep him in power.
