In a ruling delivered on Wednesday, the Media Ombudsman upheld the complaint lodged by the Ovambanderu Traditional Council against the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation. The decision of the NBC to edit out any reference to the Ombara Otjitambi, when referring to Ovambanderu Paramount Chief, the Ombudsman said is “in breach of international human rights law, indigenous peoples and minority rights Law, the Namibian Constitution, the Traditional Authorities Act, and the Code of Ethics and Conduct for the Namibian media”.
