The Independent Directorate expects to make more arrests in the R47 million World Cup fraud and corruption case. Controversial Durban businessman, Toshan Panday, former KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Mmamonnye Ngobeni and former police officer Navin Madhoe all appeared in the Durban Regional Court on Thursday. Investigating directorate spokesperson Sindiswa Twala says the fourth accused, former police captain Aswin Narainpershad, was not in court because he was observing Covid-19 protocols. The charges relate to KwaZulu-Natal police accommodation contracts during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The matter has been postponed and transferred to the Durban High Court for trial on February 8.
