The motives and priorities of MPs were questioned by interest groups from opposite ends of the political spectrum on Wednesday when South Africa’s ad hoc committee amending Section 25 of the Constitution to allow expropriation without compensation heard oral submissions. This, News24 reports, as AfriForum’s head of policy and action Ernst Roets’ said in response to a question from committee chairperson Mathole Motshekga that they have no confidence in “the people who represent the people of South Africa in Parliament” and that politicians’ priorities were not in line with those of everyday South Africans.
