The Mafwe Traditional Authority in the Zambezi Region has requested that President Hage Geingob cancel the border treaty agreement between Namibia and Botswana and start the whole process afresh because it does not reflect their historical narrative. Nampa reports that a letter written by MTA Chief, George Simasiku Mamili VII, addressed to the president said the border agreement between the two countries, signed in February 2018, does not represent the interest of the Namibian people, especially those living in the Zambezi Region along the borders of Namibia and Botswana, and should thus be cancelled to pave the way for new negotiations.
