Namibia will export 1,600 tons of beef to Norway this year, the state regulator Meat Board of Namibia said on Friday. The Meat Corporation of Namibia (MeatCo) will export 1,200 tons and privately owned Beefco the remaining 400 tons, the MBN said in a statement. Xinhua News reports that Meatco is working on modalities to allow cattle farmers in the north and north-eastern part of the country access to the international market after being blocked from exports by a colonial law that sidelined them because of the high prevalence of foot-and-mouth disease in that part of the country.
