Minster of Health and Social Services, Dr. Kalumbi Shangula, has urged Namibians to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to enhance immunization activities and come closer to strengthening immunization. The Namibia press agency reports that in a message delivered to mark world immunization week, Shangula said the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed existing health system gaps but also brought communities together since everyone from all walks of life was infected, affected, or impacted. The minister added that Namibia recognises the impact diseases have on the country’s economy and people’s livelihood and takes routine immunizations as a key priority, insisting that despite the COVID-19 pandemic impact, the country is keeping a critical eye on essential services, such as immunization to ensure that they are not interrupted during the pandemic.
